SPOT PRIZE DRAW RESULT

We are delighted to announce that the winners of the spot prize draw, from those that attended the night events, are

Dinner at THAI TORBAY RESTAURANT, to the value of $60   -Ben Balmforth

Black Diamond VectraIQ headlamp – an integrated hybrid headlamp with battery power meter and full electronic functions, donated by BIVOUAC OUTDOORS – Adele Forster

Our congratulations to you both – your prizes can be collected at one of the final 2 summer Series.

Our very great thanks to BIVOUAC OUTDOORS and THAI TORBAY RESTAURANT for your generous donations. Please can any orienteers needing an enjoyable meal out or any outdoor supplies support our sponsors, and mention to the staff that you are orienteers. I know there were quite a few of you at the night event feeling rather in need of updating your light sources – Bivouac Outdoors will most certainly be able to set you up with all you need.

A really enjoy night was had at Ambury Park on Saturday – the atmosphere was a very happy one in which it did not seem to concern anyone whether they had had a great run around their course, or their light had given out half way round – it was just a beautiful night to be out in a lovely place. Our thanks to Nicola Kinzett for all her work. We were particularly delighted at the number of small children, brandishing their torches, who ventured out for an adventure in the dark, and to have the big group of teenagers from ASDA High School, many of whom found orienteering in the dark a somewhat new challenge, but were all such a happy, grateful, polite group, really enjoying being outdoors on a lovely evening.

As we sat outside our tent in the balmy air, enjoying a late supper after we had packed up and you had all gone home, we wondered why we all live in houses – it was magic looking up at the starlight sky, being serenaded by the crickets with the occasional squawk from a Pukeko as something disturbed its sleep. Alistair brought me back to reality that not all nights out there would be quite so pleasant, but Saturday night sure was a special one.

The results of the CM event out at Taurangaruru are also attached below.

Just two more Summer Series to come. We look forward to seeing you this THURSDAY at Self’s Farm, Tidal Rd, Papatoetoe. The event centre will be on the little dead end track that goes off the big right angle bend, very close to where the road crosses over the motorway. Remember, we are show casing our Sport Ident electronic timing, so if you own an e card, PLEASE BRING YOUR E CARD – we will be loaning one to those who do not own one.
