Hamlins Hill catches people by surprise every year as it is much more like genuine forest orienteering than most of our SummerNav park maps. Nicholas and Alistair had set some good challenging courses. It was great seeing most of you rise to the challenge. If you didn’t manage to finish don’t feel you failed – the distance you have to travel on a map like this is much longer than the measured distance and some of the legs will have been more challenging than you have encountered in most of the other SummerNav maps. We hoped you took time to enjoy the views from the top of the hill. It gets even better at the time of control collection when the sun is setting.
Next week the event is again on Thursday, on Cornwall Park - one of our favourite maps. We will be starting from the road beyond the café. At the roundabout at the end of Pohutukawa Dr turn towards the café, go through the car park and take the first road out. The camper will be parked somewhere along that road.
Th Sunday sprint event scheduled to be run by NWOC last weekend had to be postponed and will now be held this Sunday. Entries close tonight – see the website for a link to the details.
