A beautiful evening combined with a favourite map certaily brought out the numbers to Western Springs this evening. The park was abuzz with people of all ages and speeds. – It was great to see. A big welcome to first timers and visitors from elsewhere, as well as some old friends we have not seen for some time. Thanks to James, Gavin and Dave for tonights courses. People very much enjoyed their visit up onto the hill above the zoo – an area we are pleased to have access to again after being closed off for some years.
Next week the event is on THURSDAY at Lloyd Elsmore Park, Pakuranga. The event centre will be in the car park off Sir Lloyd Dr, to the right as you enter from Pakuranga Rd
Club members, early bird price entry to the Nationals at Easter end this Sunday. With them being so close, in Taupo and just out of Rotorua, on what promises to be a very special area to orienteer in, make sure you get you entry in now.
Another event not to be missed is the Katoa Po night interclub relay, just out of Taupo, on the night of Saturdaty 9th March. If you have not been before, make sure you don’t miss out this year – it is a highlight of the year with everyone camping out in the paddock by the event centre. You need to enter via entero (see the link on the AOC website) but the club pays the entry fee for your relay run. There is a leg suitable for all, from the very young who go out on the first leg at dusk, through to top elite runners. For those wanting more orienteering there is a rogaine on Sunday and a maprun event on Saturday. We have our SummerNav night event on Saturday 2nd for you to warm up your night orienteering skills!
