What a great lot of intrepid people orienteers are! It was wonderful seeing so many of you prepared to battle with the wet weather traffic and then set off in pouring rain to run around Cornwall Park. It was then even more heartwarming to see so many returning still with smiles on their faces – even some very little folk! There was a request from one of the young ones that we put all the controls out inside next week – but most, both young and not so young enjoyed the extra challenge of the weather conditions, adding to the challenges of Sofia’s courses.

We did get feedback from some orienteers that they had seen one or two people going through the areas marked as Out of Bounds on the map (the red stripe). These areas were not taped off on the ground as they were far too big but the farmer had requested we keep out as they had been recently ploughed and planted. It is very important that we respect the requests of our land owners – we are indebted to them to be able to run our events so please do try to read the map carefully when there are out of bounds areas marked on it and be sure you know where you are before running the risk of crossing these areas.

Next week the event is on TUESDAY (27th) at Michaels Ave reserve, accessed from Michaels Ave, Ellerslie. The event centre will be in the carpark just in the gate, down from the YMCA gym. Look forward to seeing you in some sunshine!
