NOTE: The parking is approx 2 hours drive from Auckland CBD. The event centre is a 15min walk from the parking area. Then the start is another 20min walk past the event centre. There will be a limited shuttle service available for older and younger competitors. ALLOW TIME.

The forest at Killarney Lake was first used for Orienteering in 1994. Eventually it was logged and was unsuitable for our sport. In recent years the area was used for Rogaining as the next crop of trees matured. In 2025 the lake plateau was fully remapped by master mapper Russell Higham ready for this event.
The course setters Scott van Dyk and Rolf Boswell have this to say "There are courses on offer to cater for all levels of fitness and skill! The forest has varied runnability with areas of tricky contour detail and scattered boulders and cliffs to keep it interesting. We think the courses will test your ability to read contours while the longer courses (in particular) have some challenging route choice legs."
